Options investing

Our technology reduces our costs, and we pass those savings on to you:

  • No base fees
  • No exercise and assignment fees
  • No per contract fees on stock and ETF options
  • A low contract fee to buy or sell index options

Other fees like regulatory and exchange trading fees, Gold subscription charges, wire transfer fees, and paper statement fees may apply to your individual investing account.

Enable options trading

Enable options trading

  1. Go to Account (person icon)
  2. In the app, select Menu (3 bars) or on web classic, skip to the next step
  3. Select Investing
  4. In Options trading, select Enable options trading
  5. Follow the prompts to confirm your investor profile and review and agree to the online Options Agreement

After completing the steps, you’ll be notified in the app what level of options trading you’re approved for, which is based in part on your investor profile. If you need to update your investor profile, follow the steps in How do I update my information?

Note

Cash accounts do not support Level 3 options trading.

  2. In the app, select Menu (3 bars) or on web classic, skip to the next step
  3. Select Investing
  4. In Options trading, select Options settings → Remove options trading
