Why can’t I use my Instant Deposit?
When you make a standard bank transfer to Robinhood, it can take up to 5 business days for the transfer to be available.
With Instant Deposits, you may be able to instantly trade with a portion of a pending deposit. Any remaining funds will be available in up to 5 business days.
Instant Deposit access isn’t guaranteed for every deposit. Some common reasons why a deposit may not qualify for Instant Deposit access include:
Instant Deposit eligibility is determined on a deposit-by-deposit basis for each bank transfer. If your deposit isn’t granted Instant Deposit access, it may be because a system check determined that the deposit should not have Instant Deposit access. This check cannot be manually overridden, but once the transfer is available (within 5 business days), future deposits may be eligible for Instant Deposit access.
Instant Deposits are available based on good faith that your transfers will go through. If you’ve had transfer reversals, it’s less likely your deposits will be granted Instant Deposit access. A history of successful transfers may increase the likelihood of receiving Instant Deposits.
If you use Instant Deposit funds and your transfer is later reversed, your account may incur a deficit. Deficits are due immediately, and you’ll need to cover them with a new deposit or by closing positions as soon as possible. Once your account deficit is resolved with a fully settled deposit or trade, future deposits may again be eligible for Instant Deposit access.
You might be asked to cover purchases made with Instant Deposits even if you don’t have a deficit.
Failing to cover the deficit or the requested amount could result in losing Instant Deposit access permanently.
If you deposit more than your Instant Deposit limit, only the amount up to your limit will be available instantly. How much of your transfer qualified for Instant Deposit access will show after you submit the deposit. The remaining funds will be available after the deposit is available.
Instant Deposits may not be available for certain trades due to volatility. This can go into effect at anytime at our discretion for trades of:
If Instant Deposit is unavailable for a specific trade due to volatility, you’ll need to wait until your pending deposit settles. To make a trade sooner, you can deposit with a debit card or wire transfer.
