Options alerts
Options alerts are push notifications to help you track your options positions throughout the day, week, or month.
They can alert you on price fluctuations, upcoming expirations, earnings, dividends, as well as in-the-money and out-of-the-money changes. You’ll also get alerts when the option’s mark price changes, which is also known as the mid-point between the bid and ask price.
Note that if there are no bids, the mark price will show as $0.01
Keep in mind, you won’t be notified about every price movement. You’ll only get an alert when your contract meets adjustable thresholds (as described in this section)
While you may find these notifications helpful, they shouldn’t be the only way you keep track of your positions. Remember, your options alerts may be disrupted by a variety of market conditions including trading or exchange halts and data outages among other things.
Options alerts are not available on Robinhood Legend.
You can customize your options notifications by following these steps in the app:
These notifications serve as reminders for when an option goes in and out of the money.
You’ll receive this notification when your out-of-the-money contract has moved at least 1% in-the-money. You won’t receive it more than once per week and only when the contract is expiring in a month.
You’ll receive this notification when your contract was previously in-the-money and has moved at least 1% out-of-the-money. You won’t receive it more than once per week and only when the contract is expiring in a month.
These notifications let you know when an option goes up or down beyond a certain threshold.
You’ll receive this notification when your contract’s mark price is up more than 20%, at least one day after opening it. You can also adjust these thresholds to 50% or 100% in in Account (person icon)→ Menu (3 bars) or Settings (gear) → Notifications and messages → Push Notifications.
You’ll receive this notification when your contract’s mark price is down more than 20%, at least one day after opening it. You can also adjust these thresholds to 50% or 100% Account(person icon) → Menu (3 bars) or Settings(gear) → Notifications and messages → Push Notifications.
These notifications serve as reminders for when a single contract or a leg of a multi-leg contract exceeds certain preset thresholds.
You’ll receive this notification no more than once a week, when your position’s total gain has exceeded 20%. You can also adjust these thresholds to 50%, 75%, or 100% in Account (person icon) → Menu (3 bars) or Settings (gear) → Notifications & Messages → Push Notifications.
You’ll receive this notification no more than once a week, when your position’s total loss has exceeded 20%. You can also adjust these thresholds to 50%, 75%, or 100% in Account (person icon) → Menu (3 bars) or Settings (gear) → Notifications & Messages → Push Notifications.
These notifications provide important updates on an upcoming dividend for a long call and early assignment risk for a short call.
You’ll receive this notification when there’s an upcoming dividend announcement and you hold a short call that could be facing early assignment risk.
You’ll receive this notification when there’s an upcoming dividend announcement on a long call that you hold.
These notifications serve as reminders for when a single contract or a leg of a multi-leg contract is about to expire.
You’ll receive this notification on the day that your position expires.
You’ll receive this notification one week before your position expires.
You’ll receive this notification one month before your position expires.
Note that options alerts may be disrupted by a variety of market conditions including, but not limited to heightened market volatility, trading/exchange halts, and data outages. We may not send option alerts for options with wide bid-ask spreads
